There is something mysterious, haunting and beautiful about fall. The changing of the leaves slowly falling from the
trees cast a veil of delicate ruby red, auburn and honeysuckle-gold colors on the dark ground. The air smells like a mix of Spiced Wafer cookies, pumpkin spice candles and spiked apple cider. Okay, maybe that’s just in my head….
It’s time to wear extremely soft sweaters, new intoxicating perfumes that linger on the skin and how can I forget boots and leggings?
A pair of black leggings and boots with a small heel are the perfect fall combination. Dress it up with burgundy, plum and navy shirts or heather gray and black cardigans. Floral prints, especially against black, are still appropriate from fall and can add a sense of “whimsical girl in a ballgown sitting in a spring garden” for those that long for the warmer weather.
Fall is made even more fashionable and exciting with Halloween costumes. Whether you are 5, 17 or 30 years old (but you are feeling 22) costumes are a great way for girls to play dress up and be someone else…if only for a night.
You can be a sweet princess with a sparkling tiara (because no one can tell you that you are not on Halloween!) If you are a movie fanatic ,dress as your favorite charter. Easy A is a simple costume: just wear black leggings, stilettos, a sexy top or corset, pearls and bam you are Emma Stone.
You have to play Jessie J’s “Sexy Silk” and make your grand entrance like the movie. Go big or go home.
Group costumes can be adorable too. Just make sure everyone is on board and don’t have a cat fight about who gets to be good Sandy or bad Sandy from Grease, that can put a downer on your night.
No matter what, there is something alluring and enticing about dressing up for Halloween. Girls have loved playing dress up as princesses when
they were younger, and we still can be princess if we want to be! This time the dresses might be a little shorter and instead of walking the neighborhoods clutching a barbie pillowcase full of candy we might be hobbling in strappy black heels.
It’s Halloween, a time to celebrate and have fun. Whether you are curled up on the couch eating candy ( you know the ones you were going to give out but the were too irresistible) watching Twilight or going out with the girls, just have fun! It’s a night where you can be someone else and escape for a little while. If you want to be Jessica Hamby or Sookie Stackhouse form “True Blood”, go for it!
Halloween is only one exciting night, but you can always incorporate some of the glitz, glam and mystery into your daily life any day of the year. At the end of the day, it’s always good to be yourself.
